Baptism of Fire
My work falls into two main categories. Sculptural portraiture where I like to try to get a resemblance, and narrative ceramics where I attempt to tell a story.
The portraiture has grown over the periods of lockdown, where I made heads of “national/international treasures” or who had a high profile during the Pandemic as a homage, and to raise some money for hard hit Art institutions.
For the narrative ceramics I use either low fired Raku or high fired stoneware, particularly porcelain. I like to use parody, satire, sarcasm, exaggeration, irony and metaphor to create meaning.
